the {rewarding} truth behind ebates

December 03, 2012

I know what you're thinking - ebates sounds super sketchy - because it sounds like they're leaving out details. After years of ignoring it, I finally looked into it and I'm glad I did. I wish I would've used it sooner since I shop on Amazon every. single. day.

Here's how easy it is and how you earn money - below, I'll explain how you earn money and why it's legit.
You're not getting paid to shop
1. Sign up for ebates by clicking here
2. Search the store you want to shop at online (it will come up in the search bar if they are affiliated)
3. Check out the current specials then click the link. The link will take you to that store's regular website - but it's tracked on ebates end that you're shopping there.
4. You check out, as normal, and once the transaction has been approved, you will receive the credit in your ebates account.

Stores offer anywhere from 1% to 10% cashback. I got 8% cash back when I shopped online at Ulta last week. Anyone who orders mark. from me can go through ebates and save 4%.

Receiving a check makes it seem like you're making money  - when really they are just reimbursing you - but who doesn't like a check?

Why is it okay for ebates to do this?

From ebates:
People often ask: "This sounds too good to be true, how are you able to do it?" It really is quite simple. Just like almost every other online shopping center, we get a commission from the stores when you make a purchase. Instead of keeping that money - like almost all other sites do - we share it with you!So, as long as 1500+ of the world's top online stores are happy to pay a bonus to attract the new, valuable customers we send their way, Ebates is going to continue to send Big Fat Checks to our satisfied customers across the globe.

Click my link and I'll also receive a referral bonus - then you can refer your friends and do the same!
If you're like me, you're going to forget to use it. So set it as your homepage and get this toolbar that will always be on your browser.

  1. I've been a member since 2001. I go between them and upromise, depending on who gives the better % back. Upromise then makes quarterly payments to my student loan instead of sending me a check.
