show & tell :: Christmas plans

December 17, 2012

Tell us what your favorite thing about Christmas is.
I love shopping for gifts – I think I like giving gifts even more than receiving them. I like finding the perfect present for someone, but I also hate the hard to shop for people {husband}. Everyone {for the most part} is so happy and cheery this time of year. Christmas lights make me so happy, I wish I could leave garland up year-round.

Tell us what your plans are for Christmas this year.
Well, our plans aren’t really our plans. We planned on staying home and having Brady’s 2nd Christmas with just us, his parents. But, Travis’ Dad and Step-mom called us on Thanksgiving and told us that they will be arriving on December 22 {our 5 year anniversary mind you} and staying through 12/29. Oh, so I guess that means you’ll be here for Christmas . . . SO this year it will be us, Brady, Goose, Maverick, Filet and Travis’ Dad, Step-mom and two younger brothers. Full house.

Did I mention that I lost my job in November and we are living on one income and now will have to feed 7 people for a week? Hello, AMEX.

Show us a picture of Christmas in the past. Or present.
2009 was the first year we stayed in California and had just a Chelsea & Travis Christmas. No kid, yet, no family, no one, and a lot of money to spend. We went crazy since we didn’t have to ship gifts or pay for airline tickets, rental cars and etc…

Do you wrap your presents all in one box, or do you like wrap each present separately?
Say what? People wrap all presents in one box? That sounds like insanity and doesn’t make much sense to me. I wrap each present individually . . .

Tell us about any special traditions that you or you and your family like to do.
I’m still thinking about ones we would like to start. We are going to start Elf on the Shelf next year, even though that thing creeps me out. I don’t really think I had any major traditions growing up – other than when I was old enough, I insisted on opening a gift on Christmas Eve.

I pinned a Christmas Traditions list the other day but haven’t looked at it yet.

Merry Christmas – if you celebrate it.

  1. Your aftermath picture makes me laugh and stresses my OCD side out. I'm obnoxious and collect wrapping as we go :)~

    1. It drives me insane, too. We actually took all of the paper out of the garbage bag and 'made it rain' to show hOW MUCH we had haha
