National Military Appreciation Month & #MilBlogCon

May 04, 2012

A week from today, I will be headed to Arlington, Virginia for the premier event for the military blogging community: Military Blog Conference. This will be my first year attending and it's the only perk so far of having to move to Virginia.

It's always been about OPSEC, but we've created a virtual support community, service members have traded boots for keyboards while (most of us) still protecting OPSEC.

Speakers in the past have included President George W. Bush, General David Petraeus, Admiral John C. Harvey, Jr., Vice Admiral Mark Fox, LTG William Caldwell, LTG Mike Oates, MG Kevin Bergner, MG David Hogg, the Honorable Pete Geren, Andrew Exum and Donald Rumsfeld.

This year, Scott Waugh, Director of Act of Valor, will be speaking. Fox reached out to me and sent me a screener copy of Act of Valor to view before the conference and has set up time for me to speak with Scott. Leave comments below if you have any questions for him or about the movie.

May is National Military Appreciation Month and I am looking forward to meeting and appreciating active-duty service members, veterans, military spouses, military parents and military supporters.
There is still time to register

I'm looking forward to putting a face to all of your blogs and Twitter handles. Please comment and send me a tweet if you're going, and use the hashtag #MilBlogCon.
